Dentures

Tooth loss affects more than just appearance; it can also impact how your jaw functions and how confident you feel. Dentures offer a practical and carefully fitted way to bring back comfort and balance, whether you have lost a few teeth or an entire set.

At the Centre for Advanced Dentistry & Implantology, dentures are designed using detailed impressions and modern materials to achieve a secure, natural fit. The result is a prosthetic that restores function while supporting facial structure and speech clarity.

What are dentures?

Dentures are removable dental prosthetics made to replace missing teeth. They can restore either a full arch or a smaller section, depending on your needs.

The process begins with detailed impressions of your gums and surrounding structures to ensure a precise fit. A few follow-up visits allow for adjustments so the dentures sit comfortably and function effectively when you eat or speak.

Complete dentures

Complete dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They help maintain facial support and provide a balanced bite after significant tooth loss.

There are two main types of complete dentures:

  • Conventional dentures: Made after the gums have healed following extractions.
  • Immediate dentures: Prepared in advance and fitted directly after extractions, so you leave with a full set of teeth.

Once healing is complete, immediate dentures can be adjusted for a perfect fit.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are created to blend in with your natural teeth and sit comfortably in your mouth. They attach gently with small clips that are hardly noticeable. Once fitted, they make chewing and speaking feel easier again. They also stop your remaining teeth from drifting, helping your smile stay balanced and natural over time.

What are the benefits of dentures?

Dentures can:

  • Restore your ability to chew and speak comfortably
  • Support your facial shape and balance
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of place
  • Provide a removable, easy-to-maintain option for replacing missing teeth

With proper care and regular dental check-ups, dentures can remain a reliable and long-term solution.

What can you expect during treatment?

Consultation and impressions: Moulds of your gums are taken to create dentures that fit securely and comfortably

Fitting: Once crafted, your dentures are adjusted to suit the natural shape of your mouth

Adjustments: Small adjustments may be needed to perfect the fit and ensure ease when eating or speaking

Once your dentures are fitted, you will receive clear guidance on daily care, cleaning, and storage.

FAQs

It can take a little time to get used to new dentures, but once they have settled, they should feel natural.

Start by eating softer foods, and as you grow more comfortable, you can slowly return to your usual meals.

Clean them daily with a soft brush and mild cleanser. When not in use, store them in water or a denture solution to maintain their shape and prevent deformation.

With good maintenance, dentures can last several years. Routine check-ups will help ensure they continue to fit and function well.
